This Web page provides
information about the Alabama Department of Transportation’s
project to build a Northern Beltline in Jefferson County. The
52-mile expressway would extend from Interstate 59/20 in
Bessemer to Interstate 59 north of Trussville. The project
for this new expressway is included in the Appalachian
Development Highway Program.

Open House
Meetings will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on September 27 and
29, 2011 at the respective locations listed above regarding the
Environmental Reevaluation document for the Birmingham Northern
Beltline project. During these Open House meetings the public
may review project information and maps, ask questions and
discuss the project with Alabama Department of Transportation
(ALDOT) staff.
From 5:00 to
7:00 PM, a Public Forum will also be held. Persons wishing to
provide comments to ALDOT representatives during the Public
Forum must first register at the Sign-In Table. There is a two
(2) minute time limit for each person wishing to comment during
the Public Forum. The comments will be recorded and reviewed by
ALDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and will
become part of the public record. Written comments may also be
submitted by completing the comment sheet during the meeting,
submitting comment sheet/comments by mail, delivering comments
to the ALDOT Third Division address below, faxing comments to
the ALDOT number below, and by e-mail to
northernbeltline@dot.state.al.us which will become part of
the public record. All comments must be received by ALDOT no
later than 5:00 PM, Friday, October 14, 2011.
The Summary of Preliminary Studies for the
Birmingham Northern Beltline is available for review beginning
September 19, 2011 at the Alabama Department of
Transportation – Third Division and on the ALDOT website at
www.dot.state.al.us
