Montgomery Outer Loop

This Web page provides information about the Alabama Department of Transportation’s project to connect
Interstate 85 to Vaughn Road in Montgomery. The project – known locally as the Montgomery Outer Loop – also
marks the first of many future projects intended to extend I-85 west to I-65. An even longer-range plan calls for
extending I-85 through West Alabama and connecting to I-59 near the Mississippi state line.
